How To Make Money From Selling On Ebay

Posted on Friday 29 September 2006

Are you the type of person who is always rummaging around looking for a bargain, whether it is in a sale, yard sale or at antiques or flea market? It may be that until now the only things you have purchased this way have been for your family and friends, yet did you know that your love of bargain hunting could help you to make some real money. I would not lie, and it’s all thanks to Ebay, the world’s biggest internet market place.

Many of those bargains that you have found could be placed on Ebay and sold for a lot more than what you originally paid for them. For example, one person who managed to buy some books by the best selling author Sandra Brown for paid on $2.00 for the 20 books and sold them for $36.00. Then another time some one bought a Belleek porcelain butter dish for $1.49, they put it on Ebay and could $21.95. So as you can see a killing can be made, it’s just finding the right items to sell.

Just imagine what it would be like if you were able to find items like this each week. It is definitely possible, especially if you live in an area where there are always lots of yard sales and flea markets going on as well as having some thrift shops close by. Other people are selling items on Ebay as they are simply decluttering their homes, and these types are usually not interested in putting each item individually onto Ebay and they just might what to get rid of the stuff as quickly as possible. So it is a good idea to keep your eyes peeled for items like this when searching Ebay for new stock.

But how do you go about deciding what is good to buy and what you should leave well alone. Certainly any items you see that come with their original packaging, best selling books which are in good condition as well as vintage and antique books (especially copies which are first editions). Also consider ceramics, crystal, pottery and porcelain are a safe way of making some money on Ebay, especially look for depression era glass (also known as carnival glass) as this can usually provide you with a suitable profit. If looking at clothing to sell then choose pieces that are in new or like new condition and especially those with a recognized brand or designer name on them. Finally, it may be worth considering looking at vintage toys, again those which either come with their original packaging or are in a like new condition.

Remember when listing any items for sale, always aim for your auction to start and end on a Sunday evening as this will ensure that as many people as possible get to see the item being auctioned. Always ensure that the photographs taken of the items are clear and choose the gallery option on Ebay for uploading them. At all time ensure that the auction tile grabs the readers attention and can be easily found using a keyword search and do not forget to provide the reader with a clear description of the item for sale, including such things as colour, size, condition and any other details that you feel are applicable to that particular item. If say the item is a piece of clothing include the label name, especially if designer. When providing a description of the item include all the details required and use words that will entice the reader to look at the item and bid on it. Do not forget to include payment and shipping details for the item and start the price for bidding off low as this will entice more people to bid on it and help you to achieve the best prices for it.

So remember as long as you are vigilant, determined and dedicated to providing your potential customers with good service then this business should work. You may find that if you are able to locate and then list a number of suitable items each week you are likely to find people return to visit your listings and/or Ebay store regularly to see what you have to offer. Remember to package any items sold well and ship them as quickly as possible and you will find that the feedback you receive from customers will be good (this is certainly the most important area of running any business on Ebay). No good feedback will result in you not receiving the visitors you require to run the business effectively.

Telecommuting Job Idea: Legal Document Coder

Posted on Thursday 21 September 2006

Legal document coders provide a very specialized service for law firms. They organize the legal documents to make research easier for the lawyers. By using databases to organize things, the information can be found quickly, allowing more time to be dedicated to the case at hand.

Where to find a job as a legal document coder: There are many companies that offer document coding that may hire freelance workers. You could contact law firms in your area, especially smaller law firms, who may need occasional help.

Skills you need: You need to be able to do Objective Coding (a basic index of each document, including dates, author of the document, recipients, type, title, where stored) and Subjective Coding (includes keywords from the document itself for searches). If you have some basic knowledge of the law, it is helpful. Some companies only want to hire entry-level lawyers or paralegals, so they have a better understanding of the documents.

You should be able to learn the filing system that each law firm uses quickly, so you can step in and do the job efficiently. You should also be aware of the various styles of indexing that can be applied to the documents, including inventory, bibliographic, and detailed indexing.

You should have excellent typing skills (40 WMP or better) with high accuracy. You should be able to read quickly and accurately as well.

Tools you need: A reliable computer and internet connection are necessary if you will be working from home. A printer, scanner and fax are useful tools for transferring files to the law office. But, since many of the documents may be confidential in nature, they may have to send them through the post office or other delivery service. You should have a standard word processor and database programs. Some companies may have a preferred program that you may have to purchase.

How much money can you make? Depending on skill and experience, you could make upwards of $9 an hour.
